Board Briefs: March 15, 2011

The Board of Education on Tuesday night received a report showing District-wide improvement in reading as well as progress in ongoing efforts to close the achievement gap between the highest- and lowest-performing student sub-groups. The information was part of a report from the Division of Teaching & Learning on progress made toward the outcomes identified in the District’s Strategic Plan*, based on New Haven’s Seven Essentials for Growth and Improvement.

District, CSEA Reach Tentative Agreement

UNION CITY (Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008) –The New Haven Unified School District and the California School Employees Association have reached a tentative agreement on a three-year contract, through June 2011.

"Combined with the contracts that we reached last spring with the New Haven Teachers Association and the New Haven Administrators Association, the agreement with CSEA gives our community three more years of labor peace," said Associate Superintendent for Personnel Derek McNamara, lead negotiator for the District.
