“Carnival of Thanks”
The New Haven Schools Foundation, which helped save after-school activities for 2011-12 by donating $100,000 to help pay stipends for coaches and advisors, formally presented its check to the District before James Logan High’s homecoming football game last Friday. And the New Haven Boosters Association, which is raising half of the money, will celebrate the contribution with a “Carnival of Thanks” on Sunday, Nov. 6, in the Logan parking lot.

James Logan High School graduate Melissa Muñoz has been awarded a prestigious Fulbright Scholarship to teach overseas.  As a Fulbright scholar, she will be traveling to Malaysia to work with high school students as an English teaching assistant.

With the District having been forced to eliminate bus transportation as a result of continuing state budget cuts, morning and afternoon traffic around schools was heavier than normal during the first week of school. Parents who drop off and pick up their children are advised to allow extra time in the morning and afternoon.
