District Receives Second Grant From East Bay Community Foundation

UNION CITY (Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009) – The East Bay Community Foundation, which earlier this year awarded the New Haven Unified School District a grant to support Writing Workshop, has awarded the District a second grant for a complementary literacy program.
 
The Foundation is giving the District $11,000 to train teachers and literacy coaches in the Elements of Balanced Literacy.

Ticket Deadline Extended for Hall of Fame Banquet

UNION CITY (Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009) – The deadline to purchase tickets for James Logan High School’s second annual Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet has been extended Wednesday, Nov. 4, Athletic Director Tom Rosenthal announced today.
 
Two Olympians, a Super Bowl winner and a state championship track and field team are part of the class that will be inducted at the 6 p.m. banquet on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Classes to Resume Thursday at Logan High

UNION CITY (Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009) – James Logan High School will re-open Thursday after classes were canceled today because of a power outage.
 
Automated telephone calls are being made this evening to students and staff asking them to report to campus at the regular time.

UNION CITY (Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009) -- Classes have been canceled Wednesday at James Logan High School, after it was determined that damage from a power outage Tuesday was unlikely to be repaired before the start of the school day. Board to Hold Special Meeting on Safety at Logan

UNION CITY (Monday, Sept. 21, 2009) – The Board of Education of the New Haven Unified School District will hold a special meeting Tuesday night to discuss student safety at James Logan High School.

Kitayama, Emanuele Lead the Way as District's API Scores Continue to Climb

UNION CITY (Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009) – Scores measuring student performance improved by more than 30 points at both Kitayama and Emanuele elementary schools, and gains by Hispanic students in the New Haven Unified School District more than doubled those of the District as a whole, according to Academic Performance Index (API) results released today by the California Department of Education.
