NHTA’s Annual Toy Drive is Saturday
The New Haven Teachers Association will hold its sixth annual Charity Toy Drive and Car Show on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Logan High parking lot. The drive, co-sponsored by the Union City Police Department and the Alameda County Fire Department, is to collect toys for the Alameda County Toys for Tots program and the Samaritan House Family Shelter.
The ATS Garage and Plus 1 car clubs plan to have more than 200 cars on display. Admission is free, but attendees are asked to bring at least one new and unwrapped toy (value $10 or more). “We are asking everyone to try to donate toys/gifts for older elementary and middle school kids and teens,” NHTA President Charmaine Banther says. “We seem to get a majority of donations for young kids and very little to give to the older kids.”
Christmas Trees Available
The Logan High cross country and track and field teams once again this year are selling tickets for a chance to win a Christmas tree. Tickets, priced at $1 each, are good for a chance to win one of 25 trees in the Dec. 7 drawing.
