DIRECTOR, INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under direction of the Chief Academic Officer, support instruction in  schools and to effectively supervise principals and instructional initiatives facilitating the alignment to the District’s Strategic Plan*.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

•    Supervise, coach and develop school leadership;
•    Assess and evaluate the delivery of high quality instructional practices;
•    Collaborate with principal and Instructional Leadership Teams to identify best practices aligned with District Strategic Plan;
•    Develop and implement instructional strategies to improve student achievement;
•    Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional initiatives and practices;
•    Collaborate with site leadership to develop standards based curriculum;
•    Responsible for professional development programs for elementary administrators and teachers;
•    Collaborate with site leadership to develop and monitor the effectiveness of Instructional Leadership Teams;
•    Assist with the coordination of K-8 leadership for the district’s literacy coaches;
•    Coordinate the use of data in instructional decision making;
•    Responsible for monitoring instructional materials and validating instructional materials compliance;
•    Collaborate with principals to develop bell schedules and adhere to State instructional minutes requirements for schools;
•    Maintain current knowledge of laws and Board policies related to K-8 Education;
•  
 Prepare reports and briefings for the Board of Education;
•    Attend and conduct a variety of meetings as assigned; chair or participate in various District committees regarding instructional programs or activities;
•    
Direct and monitor the development and implementation of Single Plans for Student Achievement
•    Marshal resources and services to focus on academic achievement for ALL students;
•    Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



•    
Must possess and maintain a valid Administrative Services credential;
•    Must have twelve (12) years of successful teaching or administrative experience, seven (7) of which must have been in administrative service requiring an Administrative Services Credential;
•    Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form; and
•    
Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships within the community with lay and professional individuals and groups, and with parents.

OTHER DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:


•  
 A Master’s Degree/Doctorate Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, preferably in curriculum or administration, or a closely related field;
•    Knowledgeable of best instructional practices in education and professional learning communities
•    Knowledge of strategic planning and current research in education;
•    Ability to work effectively with certificated and classified personnel

Management Salary Range 53
225 day work year
