A. PRIMARY FUNCTION
Under limited supervision, to coordinate and implement El Civics babysitting activities. To monitor staff and students. Directly responsible to El Civics Program Manager and adult school principal.
B. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Communicates with El Civics babysitting staff to monitor and coordinate the needs of the program. Develops, coordinates and implements daily activities for El Civics children. Communicates regularly with El Civics Program Assistants regarding issues of safety, discipline, and the effectiveness and appropriateness of recreational activities. Assists in implementation of safety procedures; implements a discipline system for El Civics children.
C. DEMONSTRATED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Oral and written communication skills.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Proper lifting techniques.
ABILITY TO:
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Plan, organize and prioritize work.
Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
See to read a variety of materials.
Use proper lifting methods.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.
Move hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard.
Hear and speak to exchange information in person or on the telephone
Sit for extended periods of time
Bend at the waist, kneel or crouch.
Ability to lift and/or move moderately heavy objects/students (up to 30lbs).
D. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in working with pre-school students in an academic setting. Experience in working with groups of children in a recreational setting. Leadership abilities, experience in supervision of staff.
