A. PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Under general supervision, facilitates, participates in, and provides input for system wide, school based, and departmental program planning, evaluation, and development of mental health and behavioral intervention policies. Will provide individual and group mental health consultation and therapy to students identified with mental health disorders. Will train appropriate personnel and provide ongoing consultation and feedback to individuals and classroom teams related to the treatment of mental health and behavioral disorders. Additional duties include the development of mental health support plans, behavior support plans, functional behavior assessments, and the supervision of discrete trial services for students with autism and autism-like disorders.
Services are designed to assist families, students, and educational professionals in providing quality interventions, which allow students to reach their highest educational, developmental and social potential.
B. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to designated administrator.
C. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Will facilitate group and one on one mental health therapy.
2. Will conduct mental health and behavioral assessment of student needs.
3. Will collaborate with private and county based mental health agencies to ensure that the individual and group mental health therapy provided to students is consistent with the goals of the therapy provided outside of the school day.
4. Provide social skills, anger management, and impulse control therapy and training.
5. Participates in the development of behavioral modification plans, Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
6. Delegates and monitors data collection and implementation of behavioral interventions and mental health services.
7. Provide on-going staff observation and feedback related to behavioral and mental health treatment integrity.
8. Supervision and monitoring of discrete trial therapy program.
9. Make referrals to community agencies.
10. Participate in transition planning for students.
11. Promote parental involvement in the schools/school conferences and parental responsibility for regular school attandance.
12. Conduct home visits/family needs assessments. Facilitate parent groups/parent skills training.
13. Expand and exchange knowledge through consultation with coordinators, specialists, psychologists, counselors, and other colleagues.
14. Maintain accurate and appropriate case records and documentation (log) and a statistical, demographic breakdown of current caseload.
15. Fully participate in LEA Medi-Cal and MAA billing requirements.
16. Understand and practice in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, statutes.
D. QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, School Psychology or similar degree.
Required: Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), Board Certified Associate Behavior Analyst (BCABA) or eligibility for certification.
Required: Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, licensed or intern. Other similar mental health therapist.
Required: Minimum of five years experience working with students with autism and mental health disorders, ages 3-22.
