“CELEBRATION OF WRITING,” LOGAN CONVOCATION SET FOR JUNE 6
Students from all New Haven schools will take the stage Thursday, June 6, for “A Celebration of Writing,” the District’s fourth annual salute to its thousands of young authors.

The event, which will be held in the James Logan High School Center for the Performing Arts starting at 6 p.m., will feature students reading samples of the works that they have written during the 2012-13 school year. Read More… »»

Superintendent McVeigh to Leave District

UNION CITY (Wednesday, June 5, 2013) – Citing differences with the Board of Education regarding its role in management decisions, Superintendent of Schools Kari McVeigh announced today that she has decided to take an early retirement from the New Haven Unified School District.

“I am proud of the progress that our District has made in the past four-and-a-half years,” Ms. McVeigh said, “but it has become painfully obvious to me that the Board and I have irreconcilable differences about the Board’s insistence on injecting itself into management decisions. Read More… »»

Board to Establish Process to Find New Superintendent

UNION CITY (Thursday, June 6, 2013) – The New Haven Unified School District’s Board of Education will begin immediately the process of finding a new superintendent, Board President Linda Canlas said Wednesday, after Superintendent Kari McVeigh announced she will take an early retirement.

“I’d like to assure the New Haven community -- particularly our students, their parents and our employees – that we will establish and implement a thorough process and move quickly but carefully to find the right person for the very important job of leading our district,” Ms. Canlas said.
