Alvarado Elementary's Kids and Creeks grant is part of the Kids in Creeks program. It was paid for by the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program. The goal of the Kids in Creeks program is to give students and families an understanding of watersheds, so watersheds can be better managed in the future, and to help us respect our water resources.

Kids in Creeks as been designed to:

*give students a chance to do the kind of work real scientists do

*make students aware of the natural world near our homes and schools

* feel pride in our neighborhoods

* help students understand the sources of water pollution and what pollution does to our neighborhood and world

* learn ways to care for our environment

* become problem-solvers and critical thinkers

*think about the effects of our lives on the environment

Let's get our feet wet! Put on some rubber boots and travel with us on a virtual tour of Alameda Creek...
